If you are driving between Niseko, Rusutsu, and Sapporo, Roadside Station “Hot Kimobetsu” is a great place to stop for local food, seasonal vegetables, and Hokkaido snacks.
This spacious roadside station is popular with both tourists and locals. Inside, you can find fresh produce, mushrooms, souvenirs, vegetable seedlings, and local specialties from the Kimobetsu area.
During my visit in early May, local asparagus had just started appearing in the shop. Kimobetsu is especially known for its asparagus, making spring one of the best seasons to visit.
I also found great deals on local vegetables, including a 7 kg bag of potatoes for only 680 yen. Vegetable and herb seedlings such as basil and parsley were also available.

Usapara-yaki – A Local Snack
Outside the building, there was a container shop selling Usapara-yaki, a local snack inspired by “Usapara,” Kimobetsu’s mascot character.
It is similar to taiyaki but has a soft and chewy texture.

Both custard cream and red bean paste flavors were available, but the cream filling was especially delicious and recommended.
Beautiful Spring Scenery

One of the highlights during my visit was the large cherry blossom tree standing in front of the building. The contrast between the roadside station and the blooming sakura created a beautiful spring atmosphere that felt very Hokkaido-like.
Good Stop Between Niseko and Sapporo

Because it is located along the route between Niseko, Rusutsu, and Sapporo, Hot Kimobetsu is a convenient place to take a break, buy local foods, and enjoy seasonal scenery during a road trip.
There is also a restaurant inside the facility if you want to stop for a meal.
